AccessAble: accessibility information for across the UK

Do you spend hours planning a trip out? Have you visited somewhere and found access was not what you expected? Are you anxious and stressed when visiting a new place?

Website and app AccessAble gives you the detailed information you need to work out if a place is going to be accessible to you. Watch AccessAble’s video and read on below to find out more.

We’ve worked with local authorities, NHS Trusts, universities, colleges and private sector businesses to create Detailed Access Guides to more than 70,000 venues across the UK. This includes:

  • shops
  • pubs
  • restaurants
  • cinemas
  • theatres
  • railway stations
  • hotels
  • colleges
  • universities
  • hospitals and more.

Our commitment is to provide disabled people, carers and all those with access requirements, Detailed Access Guides for buildings and public spaces across the UK.

The guides detail the facilities available across tens of thousands of venues, ranging from:

  • car parking spaces
  • accessible toilets
  • hearing loops
  • lighting levels.

We’re aiming to help the UK’s 13 million disabled people, and 7 million carers, make informed decisions on the best places to go, stay and visit.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the guides have been checked in person, by trained surveyors.

AccessAble aims to help people with a wide range of accessibility requirements, including people who are visual and mobility impairments, autism, mental health issues and long-term health conditions.

The guides are also designed to help others with access needs, such as parents with prams or elderly people needing to know more about walking distances or areas to rest.

By speaking to and working with thousands of disabled people and carers throughout the year, we ensure that the Detailed Access Guides comprehensively cover the needs of those with accessibility requirements.

We already work with high street retailers, such as Marks & Spencer and Next, the majority of universities, major shopping centres and many other key leisure and tourist destinations.

Check out the facts, and explore the details, before you leave home or on the move using the app and website.
